Returnable-Refillable Bottles in Japan

[Click on images for a closer look]

The use of returnable-refillable bottles for beverages is common practice throughout Japan (as is the use of other reusable containers for other products). Examples of some of the returnable-refillable bottles in use in Japan include:

Milk

Who said a milk bottle couldn't be sexy?!? Japan's milk bottle is even more revealing when seen in various stages of undress (ie. removal of its tiny plastic cover, and biodegradable cardboard seal).

Soft Drink

Japan Soft Drink Bottles Returnable bottles are also very popular with restaurants in Japan.

Soft drinks for example are predominantly sold in refillables (typically 207ml, or Coke 190ml). [80yen including 5/10(?)yen deposit, 1999]

Beer

Japan brews a good drop! Not surprisingly therefore, draft beer (ie. straight from the tap) is very popular - sometimes even sold by vendors wearing kegs on their back! But a lot of beer, especially for restaurant and home consumption, is sold in 630ml returnable-refillable bottles. [photo soon].
